I have waited quite some time before publishing this attacking strategy with the Bowler. This is because of several reasons; I will explain more detailed later in this guide, but now I have a strategy I think is worth posting – even if most of you won’t be able to use it (yet). GoVaBo features Golems, Valkyries and Bowlers and it’s, obviously, an attacking strategy for TH10 and Th11 – but can be very effective against a certain type, a very popular type, of bases.

How GoVaBo works

There are tons of Go**** attacking strategies, many of them work pretty much the same way with a few differences. GoVaBo has a different approach because you will use the Bowlers in the beginning to build your funnel.

It’s deadly against the popular Resource Ring bases and ring bases with a lot of tiles in between the buildings. They are effective against the slow attacking strategies out there because the troops are often too slow to really go for the full victory.

Of course, you can also beat ring bases with classic strategies, but there is a risk you might run into an unfortunate trap or have bad timing:

These are the kind of bases I’m talking about:

Of course, you can also attack other base layouts with this strategy. I just recommend this kind of bases because they are very easy to beat with GoVaBo – even 3 Star attacks against maxed TH11 are possible.

Which Town Halls Levels does GoVaBo work?

Town Hall 10 & Town Hall 11

Main Purpose Of This Attacking Strategy

Pushing and War Attacks against Ring Base Layouts

Pros of GoVaBo:

+ Secure way to beat ring bases of all kinds (also with the resource ring)

Cons of GoVaBo:

– Need upgrades for Valkyries and Bowlers, which are expensive and not many have them

GoVaBo Step by Step

I want to explain the basic mechanics of GoVaBo attacking.

If I break it down to the very basics, this attacking strategy has 3 Steps:
  1. Create Your Funnel With Golems & Bowlers
  2. Send in your other forces to the core
  3. Drop your Spells
This sounds pretty easy, and it is – at least when you play it against the ring bases I mentioned in the beginning.

Before we look at the steps more in detail I want to talk about the benefits you have with this strategy. The Bowlers create the perfect funnel for your troops, because they can hit deep into the base as their rocks hit a second target after the first target.

Also this funnel makes using Valkyries easier – they are still not 100% predictable and sometimes simply go in the wrong direction in other attacking strategies.

Here is a possible setup you can use:
  1. 3 Golems (one inside your Clan Castle)
  2. 8 Bowlers
  3. 8-10 Valkyries
  4. 8-12 Wizards
  5. 2 Rage Spells
  6. 2 Jump Spells
  7. 4 Earthquake Spells (1 in your Clan Castle)

Step 1: Setting the Funnel

In the first wave you are placing troops at 3 different points – the first ones are your Golems and the outside ones also get some Bowlers (half of them on each side).

Now you can lay back and wait until the funnel is set.

Step 2: Send In The Destruction

As soon as your funnel is set you should drop your main forces behind the middle Golem. Now it will get fast, because your Valkyries will burn down everything.

I recommend you to drop the Earthquake Spells at the core Walls directly after you set them up.

The troops should now walk straight for the core.

Step 3: Watch, Enjoy

There’s not much to do from here. You have some Spells you should drop, especially the Rage Spell. Depending on the setup you’re attacking you might also drop a Jump Spell here or there, especially if your troops are done with the core and you want to go for the 3 Stars.

Conclusion

GoVaBo is a nice way to 3 Star Ring Bases, even if your opponent is a maxed out TH11. Using this attacking strategy is also quite simple and effective, but the downside is that you will need well upgraded Valkyries and Bowlers – which is expensive and most of us haven’t done that yet.

It’s time for a new base design. All recent base designs I featured here have become very popular, so they can be beaten by more and more people. I gathered together the latest solid base designs for TH8, War Base Layouts and Farming Base Layouts.

All base layouts are up to date with the latest Clash of Clans update and include the Bomb Tower.

Take note, some bases are rebuilt with a higher town hall account, but only the defenses and buildings from Town Hall 8 bases are used.

Town Hall 8 War Base Layouts

In Clan War it’s pretty popular that a higher Town Hall Level will attack your base. Of course this is sometimes frustrating, but this only happens if another Town Hall 8 player is not able to 3 Star your base – with these base designs you will give them a headache.

Anti-Dragon TH8 War Base Layout

This Town Hall 8 War Base Design is meant to defend against Dragon attacks. Somehow these attacks are still quite popular.

With the centralized Air Defenses and the layout making it hard to funnel Dragons directly into the core you will not see any 3 Star with Dragon attacks on this base.

Best Town Hall 8 Anti-Hog Rider War Base GoHo / GoVaHo / GoVaBo

This is a great layout to use against Hog Riders. You have strong Trap setups along with the Bomb Tower that are not predictable – the attacker will only see 4 possible positions and all of them are pretty hostile against Hog Riders.

More and more attackers use mass Hog Riders and this base will not get 3-Stared with Hog Riders.

This base is my recommendation.

Anti 3 Star Allrounder War Base Layout TH8

This War Base tries to work against multiple attacking setups – you have the Trap setups working well against Hog Riders, the centralized Air Defenses and general setup being good against Dragons and also lots of Spring Traps against Giant/Healer attacks.

All the Traps are more inside so they can’t be triggered easily from the outside.

Town Hall 8 Clan War Base

This base works with an isolated core pretty good against most attacks.

The attacking replays I’ve seen show that many attackers fail to get the Town Hall because the troops would rather go around it. A good way to save you the last Star.

Town Hall 8 Farming Base Layouts

Saving resources while farming at Town Hall 8 can be hard. Here are some base layouts I recommend for you, depending what you want to do. I have one hardcore Dark Elixir farming layout and two allrounder layouts to protect all resources (as well as possible).

The important thing is to spread the Storages so attackers can’t go for them specifically. This minimizes the risk that an attacker can take all loot without getting 3 Stars on your base.

Dark Elixir Protection TH8 Farming Base

This TH8 Farming Base is designed to help you save Dark Elixir. The Dark Elixir is so safe in the core that it’s impossible to get it without hitting your base very hard – something I don’t see happening at Town Hall 8 because there are much easier targets for an attacker.

The semi-exposed Town Hall will grant some Dark Elixir for the attacker and most of them will go for that to get the League Bonus, but also will give you a shield.

Please note that this base is only if you want to save and farm Dark Elixir exclusively. If you also want to save other resources you might want to use one of the next Town Hall 8 farming bases.

Hybrid Town Hall 8 Farming Base

You’d be surprised how many fail for this base and not even get a single Star. If you’re protecting all your resources, you also have to protect your Town Hall. It’s worth 1 Gold Storage, 1 Elixir Storage and also 20% of your Dark Elixir available.

The Storages on the outside are protected by splash damage, despite the fact that they look a little bit too exposed for a farming base. There is no way to snipe them easily.

Funneling TH8 Farming Base Layout

This is also a classic hybrid farming base layout. The core protects the Dark Elixir and your Town Hall, while the Storages are in the funnels on the outside.

here is no way to get easy access to them and if someone goes for them you will not lose more than two, but you will get your shield.

Conclusion

It’s all about choosing what you want to defend against. These bases work well, especially the second War Base shown. Take care to alter the traps a little bit so that nobody can predict them.
